How many units do I need?

  • Most homes require one unit per floor.
  • The average home requires two units.
  • The Home Fireman provides total coverage of up to 160 feet. Install each unit in a central location.
  • The number of units required can vary depending upon whether your home is split level, one large level, multi-level, etc.
  • Total coverage varies depending upon the water pressure in your home. The nozzle will shoot water about one foot per pound of pressure.
  • For 1-2 family homes, fires start in the kitchen 23.5% of the time, (see our "fire facts" page for more information). Statistically, in addition to kitchens, fires start most often in bedrooms, living rooms, chimneys and laundry areas. You may also need to protect the garage, attic, basement, workroom, outdoor shed, barn, and other areas.
  • Concentrate on areas with heating devices, wiring, gas pipes, and flammables.

 Which style should I chose?

To decide which style is best for your décor, consider the following:
  • Do I want The Home Fireman to blend in with my décor? If yes, select from the paint grade or the stain grade model. The Home Fireman can be painted or stained to "disappear" into any room. The Home Fireman can be an interesting conversation piece or hidden within a closet or laundry room. See (decorating tips) available soon.
  • Do I need to draw attention to The Home Fireman during parties or for the babysitter, cleaning team, visiting nurse, or other guests? If yes, you may want to consider the Windowed Panel style for high visibility. The window reveals the eye-catching lay-flat spiraled hose with brass fixtures and red canister. Visitors will take notice!!
  • Covers are easily interchangeable. You can purchase an additional cover should you change the room's décor or want the windowed panel present only at certain times.
